Adv. Vidya Balakrishnan is a prominent political leader and social activist from Kozhikode, currently serving in the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee and formerly as Secretary of the All India Youth Congress. With a political journey spanning over two decades, she has risen through the ranks from student politics to key leadership roles, earning a reputation for her articulate leadership, grassroots connect, and commitment to public service. She represented the Chevayoor Ward in the Kozhikode Municipal Corporation for two consecutive terms from 2010 to 2020, securing her second victory with a significant margin against a strong opponent. During her tenure, she actively addressed civic issues and brought attention to public interest matters, including infrastructure irregularities and governance concerns, reinforcing her image as a proactive and accountable public representative. Known for her fearless activism, Vidya Balakrishnan has been at the forefront of several major political movements and protests across the state and the country. She has faced arrests, police action, and personal risks while standing up for public causes. Alongside her political work, she is actively involved in social and organizational initiatives, reflecting her dedication to community development and her vision for inclusive progress.
